Helike (pronounced he-LEEK-ee) sits on the southern shore
of the Gulf of Corinth. Plato wrote about the city, which vanished
in an earthquake in 373 BCE. This "Classical Helike" remained lost
until rediscovered through the determined efforts of Drs. Steven Soter and
Dora Katsonopoulou . The Dash Foundation has sponsored several seasons
of remote sensing at this site.
